WIAW {Summer Staples}

August 1, 2012 at 10:30 am 6 comments

Holy crap it’s August.

I have 13 days of summer vacation left before I go to work my first full time teaching job ever!

This is such an exciting time in my life, but I still want to milk every last ounce of laziness out of these 13 days. For me, the start of another school year means 5:00 am instead of 6:00 am workouts, having to drink my coffee on my drive to work instead curled up on the couch, blogging after school (unless I write it the night before), and packing my lunch the night before instead of taking my time preparing whatever I’m craving at the time.

It’s going to be hectic and crazy, but I’m SO ready to take it on!

Well I’ve gone astray from the topic of this WIAW post, which is Summer Staples!

Since this is the first WIAW post of the month, I thought I’d use this to show all of my favorite summer staples instead of just a boring “day of eats” post.

1. The grill!

Anything cooked on the grill is the perfect summer staple for me!

2. Fresh veggies

3. Fruit Fruit Fruit!!! Especially berries! πŸ™‚

4. Smoothies

These are perfect after a hot run in the summer heat!

5. Refreshing Salads

6. Cold Treats

Because you can’t go through summer without indulging a little!

And those are my summer staples!

Thanks for reading, and have a wonderful Wednesday! πŸ™‚

I can never get enough of cold treats during the summer.. actually who am I kidding. I eat them all year round. Yes, I’m that person curled up on the couch covered in blankets eating ice cream & wondering why I’m cold πŸ™‚ Oh well!

Congratulations on your first teaching job. How exciting! Cannot wait to hear all about it when the time comes.

Thanks! I am the same way with ice cream, especially the pumpkin spiced flavors that come out in the fall!
