Life Without Limits Half Marathon Recap

Well, I suppose a week is long enough for me to “gather my thoughts” and give you a recap of my first half marathon. πŸ˜‰ I’ve already talked a little bit about the race, but I wanted to go into a little more detail, so here it goes!

About 10 minutes before start time, I went and got into the 10/mile corral (the slowest there was ;)) and waited.

It was really cold!!

Then, it was go time!

Miles 1-7 felt great! I even saw my mom and Chad a few times along the way. Mom was busy taking pictures. She caught me eating my sports beans just after the start of mile 6.

Miles 8-11 were HARD. Everything was hurting and the wind was pretty bad. But I ran into Mom and Chad again around mile 12, which gave me a little burst of energy. πŸ™‚

Mile 12 went across Patten Island Bridge and was SO LONG. I swear I could feel the bridge swaying. πŸ˜‰ But I knew I was so close to the finish! Mom was able to get pictures of me coming in towards the finish line!

Whoop whoop!

My official time was 2:19:11 πŸ™‚

Thanks to my wonderful husband and Mom for standing out in the cold for over two hours just to watch me run!! πŸ™‚

The pain I felt when I finished was unlike anything I’ve ever felt before. I wanted to fall over and die! I think the cold really effected my muscles, because my calves and hamstrings were screaming at me. It eventually passed though, and I was able to enjoy the rest of my day and bask in my accomplishment. πŸ™‚

And now? I’m ready for another 13.1! Get ready Nashville, I’m coming for you on April 27 for the Rock n Roll Half!!! πŸ™‚

I always find running in the cold can be the worst on my muscles as well. I’m glad you stuck it out though girl & finished the race. Congratulations ❀
