Blogging from my iPhone

Well hello! I’m blogging via iPhone from my car right now while having dinner on-the-go. 6 inch turkey with lots of veggies! Yum!

20120131-181850.jpg

Why you ask?? Because tonight I’m staying in Florence to visit my sorority sisters and see a run-through of their Step Sing performance! The show is this Thursday and Friday, and we’re going thursday night, but I wanted a little sneak peak! πŸ™‚

Earlier today, I gave Chad a few more birthday week surprises!

20120131-182417.jpg
Can you tell which word I put on the cake??? Hahaha

I also realized today that I’m not a very clean/organized person. After walking into the bedroom and having to step over this to get to my closet, I decided to clean. But then I got hungry and made a sandwich. Maybe tomorrow? Yeah.

20120131-182721.jpg

Anyway, I just left Target where I had planned on just passing some time, but I left with a sack full of things I didn’t need. Like a new running top and sports bra. I don’t run?? Why did I buy that?? I guess I’ll be making myself run now. I also got a dry erase board weekly menu thingy so I can plan meals for the week! And of course, more clif and Luna bars. πŸ˜‰

I also started getting really sick this afternoon before opera rehearsal. 😦 I thought I was going to have to miss, but I took some sinus meds and made myself go! And I’m glad I did because I really love opera rehearsal. πŸ™‚ I just love singing in general! corny?

Remember earlier when I said I’d be back with a topic centered post? Well that’s not happening tonight, but maybe tomorrow? See cleaning statement made previously. I just wanted to pass some time until I visit my sisters and tell you about every random thing that’s happened today. πŸ˜‰ But, I will tell you that my topic was going to be about how many calories you should really be eating when trying to lose weight or get healthy. But I honestly hope to have that post up sometime tomorrow, so be on the lookout!

Well, I hope this post works out since its the first time I’ve blogged from my phone. Sorry for any autocorrects. I don’t control those.

Thanks for reading!! πŸ™‚

This post has really opened my eyes to how much I should be eating!

thetruthaboutexercise

Food!Β  One of the best words in the english language, as far as I’m concerned.Β  We buy it, grow it, cook it and eat it.Β  But what and how much?Β  The answer comes to choices and portions.Β  I have written in the past about the choices part (http://thetruthaboutexercise.wordpress.com/2011/05/19/why-people-struggle-with-weight-loss), so today I’m going to focus on the portions.Β  How much do you need to be eating on a daily basis to maintain, gain or lose any weight, what-so-ever.Β  Well, the inner workings of the body, as we know, are ridiculously complex.Β  But we’ll keep it as simple as possible.Β  Now, remember, what I’m printing are ESTIMATES.Β  No yelling if your numbers don’t work out.Β  In order to know how much you have to eat, the first thing you need to do is disregard the nutrition labels on your food.Β  They are based on a flat 2000 calorie diet.Β  Yours…

Sleep Troubles

Good morning! It’s going to be a great Tuesday! πŸ™‚

Because of yesterday’s after dinner latte, I could not go to sleep last night. I was getting so frustrated and was laying in bed for hours with no hope of sleeping. Sasha was snoring right next to me, an every little sound seemed so much louder than normal. So I got desperate ad downloaded an app called Sleep Pillow. It gives you different choices of sounds and music to help you go to sleep. I chose the rain sounds, set the timer for 15 minutes, and set the phone right by my ear. I was asleep in no time! πŸ™‚

I slept in this morning like I usually do on Tuesdays, but I think I pressed snooze a few too many times. I was out of bed by 7:00 though and went straight to making breakfast. This morning I enjoyed another cereal combo using 1/2 a cup of each of these cereals.

After breakfast, I used another fitness app on my phone to give me a quick abs workout because my On Demand wasn’t working. (Does anyone else ever have problems with Comcast’s On Demand not working??? It happens to us all the time!) The workout was pretty good, I could feel the burn, but it was so intense that I needed a shower or anything. And I mean, let’s face it, if you know me at all, then you know I’ll do anything to get out of having to bathe myself. Stinky for life. Here’s what my ab workout looked like:

After my ab sesh, I went straight for coffee, and I’m about to go back for cup number 2! πŸ™‚ I may be having a little greek yogurt this morning too, just to get in a little protein for breakfast. Then it’s time to tackle today’s to-dos! πŸ™‚

Thanks for reading! πŸ™‚

Here’s a little something to think about. I posted this last night on Facebook and may be back later with a post going into more detail about my feelings on this.

What do you think???

Busy Day, Yummy Dinner, New Workout Plan

What a day! It’s been a long one, but I’ve gotten so much done! Don’t you just love crossing off your to-do list?! Okay, so maybe I get a little too excited about this.

Anyway… I spent the morning working on music, choreographing, and doing some house work. Lunch is un-pictured (yes that’s a word), but included a big gala apple, a wedge of laughing cow cheese on two wasa crackers, and the new Chobani apple cinnamon flavor, which is AH-MAY-ZING. Really.

After lunch, I had a voice lesson (which was awesome!) and show choir rehearsal with the high school chitlins. πŸ˜‰ Between my lesson and show choir I snacked on a Chocolate Peppermint Stick LUNA bar…. omg. I could eat these things every day! As soon as show choir was done, I rushed out to hell Walmart to get some things I need for my music classes. My classes are making instruments this week. Please pray for me. (I’m completely serious.)

Dinner was yummy! Lemon pepper chicken with garlic green beans and mashed potatoes. (Don’t judge the fact that my potatoes get a little help from Betty Crocker…. meaning they are from a pouch.)

I let the chicken sit in lemon juice for a few hours and then put some lemon pepper seasoning on them before cooking. They were niiiice and lemony! (also a word)

Now I’m on the couch blogging, relaxing, and drinking a pumpkin spiced latte. Yes, I’m still in love with all things pumpkin. πŸ˜‰

So, because I did so much today, tomorrow is going to be much more laid back! I’ll still be working on opera music and probably getting a few things together for my classes this week, but at least I wont feel rushed to do it all.

I’m also starting a new abs workout on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. I realized that I really didn’t need to be taking 4 rest days during the week. I workout every MWF morning, but need to do something on the days in between. So Tuesdays and Thursdays are now AB DAYS! I’m excited to kick my fitness up a notch! Woo!!!! (Sorry, too much excitement?) I”ll keep you guys updated with my workouts and progress! πŸ™‚

Well, ice cream is calling my name. Thanks for reading! πŸ™‚

Some Laughs and Day 2 of Bday Week!

Good morning!

Well friends, it’s Monday again. How about a few laughs to brighten your day??

Did you ever stop and wonder…

Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, β€˜I think I’ll squeeze these pink, dangly things here, and drink whatever comes out?’

Who was the first person to say, β€˜See that chicken there… I’m gonna eat the next thing that comes outta it’s butt.’

Why do toasters always have a setting so high that could burn the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?

Why do people point to their wrist when asking for the time, but don’t point to their butt when they ask where the bathroom is?

Why does your gynecologist leave the room when you get undressed if they are going to look up there anyway?

If quizzes are quizzical, what are tests? Go ahead, say it out loud.

If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, then what is baby oil made from?

If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?

Why do the Alphabet song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune? AM I THE ONLY PERSON WHO NEVER EVEN REALIZED THIS? …Now, stop singing and keep reading.

Do illiterate people get the full effect of Alphabet Soup?

Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog’s face, he gets mad at you; but when you take him on a car ride, he sticks his head out the window?

Does pushing the elevator button more than once make it arrive faster? always.

Maybe that helped with any Monday blues you may be having?? πŸ™‚

Birthday Week is still in full force!

Last night I baked Chad some minty brownies that he had at a Christmas party in December, and he could not stop talking about them. So I decided it would be a good treat to make him for Birthday Week! He loved them! πŸ™‚

This morning’s alarm went off at 5:30, and I almost just turned it off to sleep in. But, I forced myself out of bed and went to the gym! I’m pretty proud of this dedication… I warmed up on the treadmill for 20 minutes with intervals, then spent about 30-45 minutes on this full body circuit.

It was killer and had my arms and legs burning! (In a good way!)

Breakfast: I always forget to snap a pic of my post-workout breakfast, but it’s always an egg on a 100 calories English muffin with some raspberry jam. So good! Plus TWO cups of coffee this morning!

In celebration of Birthday Week Day 2, I placed this outside the bathroom door while Chad was in the shower.

(If you can’t read the card, it says: Happy Day 2 of Birthday Week! Here’s a new shirt for you to wear! It’s plain, unlike you!)

Corny? Yes. But Chad is wearing this shirt today, so I’d say it was a success!

Today’s Agenda is pretty much the same as most of my Mondays. Working on music for voice and opera, working on choreography for show choir, house-keeping chores, etc.

Well, I’m off to finish my coffee and take on the day! Thanks for reading! πŸ™‚

P.S. We will be getting the little black poodle on Thursday morning!!! His name is Pierre, and I can’t wait for him to join our family!!! πŸ™‚

Birthday Week Day 1

Well hello, and happy Sunday!

This is the first post I’m doing from my new blog at WordPress and with a new name! How do y’all like it? I wanted the new name to represent what I blog about and what I love to do, so Eat, Sweat, Sing came to mind! I love to eat… A LOT! haha I love to sweat at the gym or at home with DVDs and the Wii! And I love to sing! Obviously, I’m a music teacher! πŸ˜‰

Well guys, yesterday Chad and I found ourselves at the same restaurant we were at last Saturday! Franks Italian, it’s just that good! I had the House Italian Salad, but I demolished it before I got a picture…. so you can see the remains.

Destroyed.

Breakfast

This morning’s eats were quick. Plain instant oatmeal with 1/4 a cup of greek yogurt, splenda, and cinnamon. It was quick but delish! I also grabbed a gala apple to take with me to church and eat between the service and Sunday school.

After church, I went to Walmart to pick up some things for lunch and also a few surprises for Chad because it’s his BIRTHDAY WEEK! πŸ™‚ He came home to this today:

I thought it was pretty clever. πŸ˜‰ And I know it’s a little early for Easter candy, but who can pass up a Reese’s Egg???? Only 68 cents! πŸ™‚

Lunch

Lunch was very yummy and a little different in honor of day 1 of BIRTHDAY WEEK! πŸ™‚ I fixed breakfast but made Chad a little surprise with his. Instead of the normal french toast I usually make, I turned his into peanut butter and banana stuffed french toast. He loved it!

On the agenda for today is a little relaxing, working on some music for my voice lesson and opera, and maybe working on another BIRTHDAY WEEK surprise for Chad! But shhhhh, don’t tell him! I know he wont read this post for a few days, so I think I’m safe. πŸ™‚

Later on today we have rehearsal with our praise band because of a special youth-led service tonight at church. It should be a good one because our youth are going to talk about the things they learned at Behold! πŸ™‚

Stay tuned this week to see what I have planned for days 3-6 of Chad’s BIRTHDAY WEEK! πŸ™‚

Thanks for reading! πŸ™‚

Heavenly Cereal Combo

Gooooood morning and happy Saturday!! πŸ™‚
Hope this week treated everyone well! It was a typical one here in the Kennington household. Wednesday through Friday I teach all day and usually have things to do after school, so I never really get the chance to blog on those days. But, I do want to share my workout from yesterday morning!
I always start out with 20 minute intervals on the treadmill! I haven’t gotten bored of them yet!
Then comes the full body circuit:
Friday nights, Chad and I almost always stay in and do nothing. We’re so tired from the week that we can’t seem to get out of the house. We did manage to walk the 20ish yards from our house to my parents’ last night after dinner to visit with them though! And speaking of dinner, I cooked a recipe that I recently pinned on Pinterest! Baked Parmesan Garlic Chicken

It was so yummy and pretty healthy! I served it wit mashed potatoes and corn on the side.
Sleep last night wasn’t so good for me, because I’ve been battling a runny/stuffy nose and sore throat for a few days, and last night my nose decided to stop up completely, which cause me to breath through my mouth all night resulting in a very dry and sore throat this morning. 😦 But, it’s slowly getting better.
Breakfast was a good one today!
I combined 1/2 a cup of Peanut Butter Cheerios with 1/2 a cup of Special K Chocolatey Delight and just a splash of skim milk. It. Was. Heaven. The perfect combination of peanut butter and chocolate while still being healthy!
Then to add some protein to my breakfast, I had about 1/4 a cup of plain greek yogurt with some splenda and cinnamon. Also very tasty! πŸ™‚
I’m not sure what’s on the agenda for me and Chad today, but hopefully we’ll come up with something fun since we stayed in last night. I do know that I’ll be spending some of this morning getting some work done for my voice and opera classes.
Have a GREAT Saturday everyone! Thanks for reading! πŸ™‚

Another List and Tuesday 10

Morning! πŸ™‚
It’s kind of dreary over here, and I just want to lay around and do nothing. =/ But, I’m not going to let this weather keep me from being productive! I’ve got another long to-do list for today.
Β -Finish memorizing my opera music
-Work on and hopefully finish this weeks voice assignment
-Finish my lesson plan for my music classes this week
-Run some errands around town
-Go to UNA’s music library to make copies of all of my voice music
-Opera rehearsal at 3:30
-Work in some cardio sometime
That last one may not happen though. I woke up this morning and could barely walk. I guess I really worked my legs at yesterdays workout. So the cardio may turn into some relaxing yoga instead πŸ™‚
Breakfast this morning was new, thanks to a random purchase at Walmart last night!
These were sooo yummy! I also added a piece of light bread with a tbs of sugar-free raspberry jam and had two cups of coffee, all while catching up on some blogs and episodes of Family Guy and The Office! So now, I’m ready to tackle my day! πŸ™‚
How about a little Tuesday Ten to end this post!
1. I’ve just realized that it’s the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese New Year! The dragon is my Chinese symbol, so maybe that means good things for me in 2012?? πŸ™‚
What is your Chinese symbol?
2. It’s also National Peanut Butter Day! I’ve already celebrated once with my breakfast, but I plan on celebrating again later with my jar of natural peanut butter and a spoon. πŸ˜‰
3. Chad and I are currently obsessed with this creamer
It’s basically the greatest thing I’ve ever had. πŸ™‚
4. Just yesterday, I saw a preview for a movie called “The Woman in Black.”Β
It has Daniel Radcliffe in it and comes out Feb. 3 (Chad’s birthday!). I can’t believe that I’m just now hearing about this movie?? Especially since it has my all time FAVORITE person in it! I absolutely love Daniel Radcliffe! And not just because I’m obsessed with Harry Potter, but because he’s also a fabulous broadway singer/dancer! I would DIE to to see him in How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying! I’m definitely going to be seeing this movie at some point!
Actor + Singer/Dancer + Wizard = LOVE πŸ™‚
5. I’m STILL reading Catching Fire, and it is still so so good! It’s just taking me a while because I don’t have as much free time as I did over Christmas break. (duh)
6. I know at the beginning of this post I said it was dreary out. But, I just opened up my blinds, and it looks like I see the sun shining through! πŸ™‚ Happy day!
7. I’m spending way too much time blogging this morning. πŸ˜‰
8. I will be enjoying another one of the best snack combos evaaaa this afternoon before opera rehearsal! πŸ™‚
9. It’s looking like the adorable black poodle pup is going to be coming home with us after all!!! πŸ™‚ We’re still waiting on some things, but it’s looking good for us!Β  So now all we need is a name! Β
Anyone have any name suggestions for a little black BOY poodle?? πŸ™‚
10. Chad’s birthday is in 10 days!! I’ve already bought him one present that he wanted. It’s a new manly cross necklace. He needed a new one because his old one was turning colors. πŸ˜‰ I’ve got some other surprises in store for him, but I can’t reveal them on here just yet! πŸ™‚
Hope everyone has a good Tuesday! Thanks for reading! πŸ™‚

A Long To-Do List

Gooooooood Monday morning!!!!!!!!
Now how many of you want to slap me in the face for using so many exclamation points on a Monday morning??? haha πŸ˜‰
How was the weekend?? Chad and I had a pretty good one over here.Β
Saturday morning was spent relaxing for me. Chad went to the detention center to do a devotion and give lunch to the kids with another friend from out church. After lunch we went to Target just because…. I ended up with a new pair of jeans, sports bra, Clif Kid Z bars (the iced oatmeal cookie flavor!), the new LUNA bar flavor (which I actually wasn’t a fan of), and a vitamin water GLOW (the BEST flavor!). Chad also left with a new pair of jeans. I swear I always leave Target with things that I don’t really need. Saturday night, Chad and I had a little date at Frank’s Italian restaurant where I had the BEST salad I’ve ever had! I swear Frank’s house Italian salad is better than Olive Garden’s salad.
Sunday was spent at church most of the day. We had a meeting that afternoon and then took the youth to eat Mexican. But I did manage to save some of my Target purchases for a snack before our church meeting.
Quite possibly the best snack combo evaaaaa! πŸ™‚
Last night we got some bad weather and had to go down to our basement for the first time since we’ve moved into our house. I”m a bit of a baby when it comes to tornado warnings and sirens, and now since the April 27th tornadoes, it’s even worse. Sorry Chad. But everything was fine, and we were back to bed in no time. I feel so blessed to actually have a basement to go to during bad weather and blessed that our area was safe last night because other places didn’t have it so good last night.
But the bad weather didn’t stop me from getting to the gym early this morning!!
I did another 20 minute interval workout on the treadmill, with a one minute sprint at the end, Then did my usual full body circuit style workout that took about 45 minutes to complete.
After my workout, I came home to Chad cooking eggs and bacon, so I asked him to make me an egg for my egg, jam, and lite english muffin sandwitch. YUM! πŸ™‚
I’ve got an extra long to-do list today:
-Fill out registration form for a vocal competition and turn it in along with registration fee this afternoon
-Work on music for my lesson this afternoon
-Start this weeks voice assignment (it’s a pretty big on)
-Work on choreography for the show choir that I teach this afternoon
-Practice and memorize Act I of the opera I’m doing for our rehearsal tomorrow
-Voice lesson at 2:00
-Teach show choir at 3:30
-Have dinner ready by 5:00 because Chad has meetings starting at 5:30
-Go to Wal-mart for essentials like toilet paper, eggs, bread, dog food, etc.
-REST???
Let’s get this Monday started y’all! Thanks for reading!! πŸ™‚

The “Cool” Teacher

HELLO! Happy Friday! πŸ™‚ Hope everyone’s day has been great!
My Friday has been a good one so far, I’m just sooooo tired. Fridays are my longest days of teaching, and I’m always exhausted by the time 3:00 rolls around. But, the kids seriously make it so worth it! I had a 2nd grader come to my room after school just because she wanted to talk and hang out. I love that my kids think I’m “cool” enough to come just to hang out! πŸ™‚
Before I did the school thing, I had to do the gym thing. I had some pre-workout fuel that was 1/2 a tbs of natural peanut butter. πŸ˜‰ Then I completed a new interval cardio sesh. on the treadmill that I really liked! But, I always add my own extra minute of a sprint at 9.0 to boost my metabolism! Then I did a usual circuit workout
Afterwards, I had my usual post workout breakfast: One egg on a whole wheat 100 cal English muffin with sugar free raspberry preserves.
Then it was school time! It was a really good day, but like I said, really looooong!
As soon as I got home a grabbed one of these babies and a diet mt dew!
These Iced Oatmeal Cookie flavored Clif Kid Z Bars are AMAZING! Seriously….
Chad’s gone off to Foodland to get some stuff for fajitas tonight! I love fajitas because of all the peppers, onions, and tomatoes! πŸ™‚ We’ve also got plans to stay in tonight, watch a movie, and just relax! I love nights like this. Hopefully I can get a little more reading in too! I’m definitely loving Catching Fire so far.
No news on the pup yet, but I’ll let y’all know when we hear anything! I really hope he can become our new dog-child! πŸ™‚
I’m off to start dinner! Thanks for reading! πŸ™‚
